I remember blogging about the Versace platforms back in May. I was crushing on them but I also knew that I would probably never buy a pair. Hello??? Can I say budget! So anyway, I forgot about them until I came across a virtual mae post on facebook for ankle bootie wedges, which I also totally adore. I checked out her main website: http:virtualmae.multiply.com for details but came across these instead:
Still not done Christmas shopping? Beat the holiday rush. Head on to the nearest wine depot and take advantage of their great holiday sale. There's a wine depot a block away from my house and it's one of my favorite retail spots in the neighborhood.
Get a minimum of 10% off for 6 bottles of your choice of wine. That's one for tito, another for kuya, in-laws, etc. Just put a pretty ribbon on the bottle and you're all set!
They also have specials on premium wines and bubblies. Like this one I got:
It's an Italian Montepulciano which regularly goes for P600 a bottle but this holiday season you can get it for only P300. I had it last night for my birthday salubong. It's pretty good. I'm no sommelier but I would say that this one is dry and a bit tangy but very smooth. I accidentally gulped it down several times.
Ooops! That got me all tiddly but happy.
They have branches in Yakal, Alabang, Greenhills and Reposo
ps. sign up to be a member and take advantage of free wine and cheese tastings. cheap date pero sosyal!
And the results are in! Today's lucky numbers are: 11-16-42-47-31-37
I heard someone won already. One person from Luzon now has P741,176,323.20 in his or her bank account. WOW!
I gave it my best shot! haha When the lotto prize started getting bigger and bigger, my husband and I would send the maid to make "taya" for us. Just P20 each. We'd even watch the lotto results show on NBN together hoping for the big bucks. It was fun while it lasted....
Congratulations to tonight's winner (whoever you are), you probably deserve it the most (I hope!). Put the money to good use...give me some! haha
While I was out in the mall with my daughter, my husband was at home preparing this dish to surprise me as a pre-birthday dinner treat. I am ruled by my belly!
He calls it the "Meridien Pork Tenderloin Roast" a.k.a. Sarah's Birthday Surprise. It came out lovely. The pork was so juicy and tender and our house was filled with a lovely aroma. I enjoyed it so much I thought I'd share the recipe with you. It's real simple.
To recreate this dish at home, follow these instructions from Dennis Sy (our resident chef at home) :
You will need:
1 medium sized slab pork tenderloin
butter or olive oil
mustard (regular yellow variety)
marjoram and/or rosemary
crushed fresh pepper
Create a dry rub by mixing all the dry ingredients together in a bowl, make enough to cover entire slab.
Massage dry rub onto slab, make sure to cover the entire tenderloin.
Rub mustard on slab, don't be shy. Have fun with the mustard.
Using a fork, poke holes around the meat so the heat can penetrate easily towards the center creating an even roast.
Marinate for at least an hour
Pre-heat oven to 250C for about 15 minutes.
Drizzle olive oil all over your tenderloin or chop bits of butter and just loosely distribute all over the slab.
Chuck your tenderloin in the oven for about an hour making sure to turn it over half way around for even cooking.
When done, let rest for about 10-15 minutes depending on size.
You may garnish with a couple sprigs of fresh rosemary on top (which we did not do. no need for garnish when your hungry).
Good for 3-4 normal people but in our case 2-3 people.
Dennis says: "this recipe is property of Dennis Sy and may not be recreated for commercial purposes. Only for your enjoyment at home. =)"
This place has been around for quite some time but never really got around to trying it 'til yesterday. I'm more of a rice person, bread doesn't cut it for me. So anyway, we ordered the hamburger, fries, a drink and one american cheesesteak sandwich. Our bill amounted to almost p700. Highway robbery?
The fries are good. Real potatoes, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and served in a brown paper bag.
Don't order the burger. It is expensive at P200 for a single patty with no cheese. Add P80 for a double patty burger like this one and an additional P30 for cheese. That would ring you up a grand total of P310 for one tasteless, dry and tough sorry excuse for a burger. Save your money for Chili's where the burgers are always great and served with fries. And this is their legendary cheesesteak sandwich. The namesake of the restaurant. I personally liked it but my husband said it was lacking something but couldn't pinpoint what. The beef was tender, cooked perfectly I would say. And the beef and cheese combo was a winner. The bread had just the right amount of crisp and softness to it and was able to hold it's shape despite the weight. It's a bit small though, and pricey as well. An 8 inch sandwich like this one will set you back a whopping P320 for the sandwich alone. If you want fries and a drink to go with it, you have to add P80. Which I think is necessary as I don't think that the sandwich alone will be enough to fill your tank up.
My final verdict: This place is overpriced but if you have a few extra bucks to spare, try the steak sandwiches, but always with cheese in them.
My daughter loves these so I thought I'd just share. Was in Rockwell yesterday. Their toy store is offering 10% off on all Sylvanian Families collectibles until tomorrow only (November 30, 2010). Quite a big deal because I've never seen this go on sale before.
They also have a nice display set up that your kids might enjoy looking at:
a little girl's dream come true to have this set up at home!
