My friend Ga celebrated her birthday last night in Casa Nami. I forgot to take a "proper" what I wore photo. Anyway, it was a great party. I got to catch up with a lot of dear old friends, my "classic" group. I never realized how much I missed them. The theme for the night was beach wear so I just went in shorts, my diy cami, which I am selling by the way, brand new of course, specially made for you, just click on the "shop my closet link" for details, diy scarf/belt, diy jewelry, and the new pair of shoes I bought from my recent shopping expedition in SM.

avs, ga and me
me and the birthday girl :)
Carla, Lana of Hautepot, Kelvin, Me, Niko (Lana's Beau), and Sharkbite, my forever and ever ;)

The food in Casa Nami is great. They serve authentic Guam dishes. Delish!!!!

Sapphire Blue Nail Polish

This post is long overdue. A few weeks ago, my doctor sent me to buy some really expensive antibiotics for my breast cyst. During that time, I still had no idea wether or not it was benign so I was really pretty depressed about it. Add to the fact that one week of my antibiotics cost me almost P3000/$70! Money I would much rather have spent on a pair of shoes.

Anyway, while waiting along the counter for my prescription to be filled, my wandering eye caught a glimpse of a beautiful blue shade in a tiny bottle. The color made me feel happy despite it being blue so I quickly grabbed the tiny vial and added it to my purchases.

It was the perfect shade of blue, the blue I have been obsessed about this entire year, the blue that goes so well with coral, and it only cost me P24/ $0.50! Bonus points, it lifted my "pharmacy depression".
La belle polish in Sapphire

I immediately tried it on. I am no way a nail polish expert, I hardly buy any, I just sometimes dabble but I've tried some of the better ones in the market like OPI and Chanel which cost an arm and a leg, but you get what you pay for. La belle is exactly worth it's P24 price tag. You need to put on 2-3 thick coats to achieve the desired shade plus it takes forever to dry and chips off very easily probably cause you have to apply it on super thick. Despite that, it's cheap, I'm not picky and I really love the color, so I'm happy :)

I'll probably invest in a better bottle of polish in the same color after this one runs out but because it's only P24, I have no regrets and I still love it. I bought my bottle in South Star Drug along Wilson Street. :)

What I Wore Today: Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

Tuesday, March 22, 2011

My Mamita brought home this pair of socks for me from the States. They kinda look like they were made for eleven year olds. They have pink and powder blue pastel flowers around the top. I decided to have fun with it.
I didn't even really dress up, I was already wearing the denim cut-offs and gray tank for lounging at home. I just added some accessories, an old, sky blue eyelet cowboy shirt from Roxy, the "Dorothy" socks, my Oro Nero clogs, and I tied a knot at one side of my old and tattered tank top (the holes don't show in these photos :))

I think I'm a little too old to be wearing outfits like this one but I guess once in awhile is okay. It helps keep me young :)

BTW, I just opened up my closet so if you'd like to see the things I have for sale just click on this LINK or the icon below my banner that says "Shop My Closet". Please support me so I can stay home with my daughter. Thank you! :)

SM Haul

I never really share my hauls with you because...I don't really know why, I just don't, but I'm really excited about this one. It's too good not to share.

I never/hardly get to go to SM Megamall because sharkbite hates crowded places. Yesterday though, we were out of toilet paper, cotton and some other groceries and by some miracle, I managed to convince him to do the shopping in Megamall. I heard from my friend Lana of Hautepot that there was an ongoing shoe and bag sale and I couldn't wait to check it out.

We were there for less than an hour, I had my daughter with me but despite all that, look what I managed to buy:
  • Parisian Sandals/Boots (bot sure what they are, looks like a marriage of both) at 50% off! P649/ $15!!! They're comfy too!
  • a patent turquiose bag that can be converted into an envelope clutch for P199/ $4.50
  • cute sequined gold sandals for my daughter P300/ $7 ( this wasn't on sale, just super cheap! who needs Payless?)
  • and my favorite of all! An Alexa look-alike in Teal/Seafoam Green for only P1350/ $31! ..it's nothing compared to the P300/$5 leopard version Pax and Bestie got from Landmark but that's okay na din. Landmark is another place I have to conquer. I just don't know how to convince Sharkbite to take me there, but one day, I will! hahaha :)
everything for only P2498/$58!
I love you soooo much SM! I made sharkbite promise to take me from now on at least twice a month. :) The sale is still on in all SM branches til the end of the month I think. You can't pass this up. I was in a daze the whole time. I didn't even feel the earthquake! I wanted to get so many other things but we had to leave cause sharkbite and my dumpling were getting hungry. I wanna go back today! hahaha :)

Hopelessly Devoted To Nars

The NARS Hopelessly Devoted set has finally reached our shores! The Hopelessly Devoted Gift Set boasts limited-edition products formulated especially for this set to enhance lips and cheeks. Included in the set is:

  • a go-anywhere Deep Throat/Laguna Blush/Bronzing Powder Duo
  • and medium-sized versions of both Orgasm Lip Gloss and Crépuscule Lip Gloss - a brand new shade exclusively for this set!
color swatches from the set:
The Hopelessly Devoted set is the only thing you will be needing this entire Spring/Summer to make you look radiant and gorgeous the entire season. The Deep Throat blush is the perfect shade of peachy pink with just the right amount of gold shimmer that looks great on almost all complexions. The Laguna Bronzer is a mid-tone brown with slight gold shimmer. None of the unnatural orange shades. The secret to super hot Brazilian-like tanned skin.

Nars is a high quality brand and very pigmented so remember that a little goes a long way. I suggest using a medium density brush when applying the blush and be careful not to use too much. Once it's on, it's difficult to come off. Which is good when applied the right way.

On to the lippies: Orgasm and Crepescule. The orgasm lipgloss is the lip version of the blush. It offers the same pinkish color with a little gold shimmer. Crepescule is of a darker, sexier, reddish shade that is perfect to use for a night out.

The Limited Edition Hopelessly Devoted set is now available in all Rustan's Department Stores for only P2950! A steal for all four. Grab yours now while supplies last.

10 Easy Ways To Incorporate Color Into Your Wardrobe

Sunday, March 20, 2011

Spring is right around the corner, here are some very easy to follow tips that will have you sporting those beautiful colors from the runway in no time!

-taken from instyle.com

1. Grab a Bright Bag
Neutral wardrobe staples get an effortless spring update thanks to bright arm candy, as shown on the runway at Burberry. Look for a structured bag with refined hardware, which projects polish and panache

2. Sport a Pair of Eye-Catching Shades
Make a chic statement with sunglasses in jewel-tone shades, like purple, blueberry, or orange (inspired by the punchy options seen on Prada's spring runway). Avoid looking clownish by choosing classic frames that are in proportion to your face—not oversize.

3. Let a Bold Bra Peak Out
This season, you'll want your bra to show through. Layer it under a flowy, sheer top, like the ladylike-with-a-twist looks at Proenza Schouler's spring show. Try a full-coverage style in a cheerful (read: not overtly sexy) color, like neon lemon or royal blue.

4. Get Noticed in Candy-Colored Sandals
The perfect companion to wide-leg pants, ankle-length skinnies or flowing skirts, pop-bright sandals complement this season's minimalist and white-on-white trends (as seen at the Dries Van Noten show). Tip: These shoes will draw attention downward, so make sure toes are neatly polished with a pretty neutral shade.

5. Throw on a Vibrant Watch
Crayon-colored tickers, like the chunky styles shown at Balenciaga's spring collection, add a burst of energy to standard workday ensembles and perk up your weekend jeans-and-tee uniform. And it can work for day or night: Dress it up with a stack of bangles (just make sure the bracelets' metal matches the tone of the hardware on your timepiece) for evening.

6. Add Drama With Oversize Crystal Earrings
Gem-encrusted earrings aren’t just for formal occasions—pair sparkly danglers with casual favorites like a V-neck T, denim shorts, and ballet flats. And don’t hide the gems behind your locks: Sweep hair off your face and into a sleek ponytail, a la Oscar de la Renta.

7. Take a Break From Black in a Little Blue Dress
This spring's hottest look is the gorgeous little blue dress (shown all over the runways, including this look from Jil Sander). Sapphire and cobalt shades work best with fair complexions; softer tones, like pool or cornflower, play nicely with peachy skin. Sky, denim, navy, and teal look great on everyone.

8. Wake Up a White Top With Statement-Making Trousers
Color isn't just for off-duty looks. Punch up your office arsenal by way of well-tailored separates, like the slim-cut, slightly cropped coral trousers at MaxMara's spring show. For evening, introduce a hint of sparkle (e.g., a clutch, cuff or statement necklace) for an easy after-dark look.

9. Add Multiple Pops of Color
Now that you've mastered the art of incorporating bold hues into your look, choose your favorite and add multiple accents. Cherry red was popular on the runways—from Prada and Loewe to Marc Jacobs and Chloé. Take inspiration from Loewe's layered styling and brighten up a neutral shift with head-to-toe highlights.

10. Perk Up Your Polish
If you've been wanting to stray away from your safe shell-pink mani, this is the season to do it. Think of nail polish as your most versatile (and affordable!) accessory. Experiment with the rainbow of choices, from tangerine to cerulean blue.

There it is, your little guide to spring colors! Hope you all liked it. I'm still down with the flu but I'll try to post some outfit shots later tonight or tomorrow. Hope you all have a great weekend!
