What I Wore Today: Not Stripes

Saturday, April 30, 2011

Fashion blogging in the Philippines just got a lot more challenging with the arrival of one of our hottest summers ever. I find it difficult to blog when all I really feel like wearing is my underwear, which is not acceptable, or just loose white cotton tops and short-shorts. Even high-waist shorts are sometimes too warm for me, which sucks, since I just recently purchased a few pairs for summer. Seems all I ever talk about is the weather...

Okies, the outfit...old camisole from grandma's closet, forever21 shorts, navy and white printed scarf from greenhills, parisian sandals and a bunch of bracelets which aren't visible in the photos.
Good day to you all! I'm gonna try to stay away from all the malls this weekend, my credit is suffering and the sales are sooo tempting! Good Luck to me! :)

Transitionizationess and Gifts

Friday, April 29, 2011

Yesterday was a full day, we were out doing I forget already because of the anestesia they gave me during childbirth, but I remember we were busy. Didn't have time to change so much because we had to meet my best friend and her husband for cocktails shortly after whatever those errands were.

So I just wore the same shirt (yuck ba? hahaha) and replaced my shorts with jeans, wide-legged, because my body is rejecting skinnies due to the extreme heat. (taking them off feels like peeling away your slimy, second skin lately.)

Anyway...
1. Here's the first turban I made in brown that I mentioned in my previous post:
I have since made another one in navy blue, I love how they frame the face, I think it looks really feminine. Sorry about the messy hair. I was just really melting during these photos.
Here's the polish my BFF gave me. She also gave me another one in a different color but I haven't taken a photo of it yet. Anyway, I love it, perfect for me since I never seem to be able to prevent my nails from hitting things while waiting for them to dry. This polish takes less than 5 minutes to dry up and it's highly pigmented. This color's called SOnic Boom and it's a bright coral shade. PERFECT!
She also surprised me with this red leather bracelet that says "Dream" (kse lagi daw ako naka tunganga! LOL! translation: because I'm always off staring into space). It's so pretty, she got herself a matching one that says "Inspire". At 31, we still adore "friendship bracelets". hehe :)
And she got me some connector rings too which I haven't had the chance to take a photo off, maybe next post.
Okay, that's it for today. Good Morning! Hope you enjoyed reading this post with your morning coffee. See you again tomorrow! Have A Nice Day!

What I Wore Today: Deodorant

Thursday, April 28, 2011

Wow man, the heat, I can't take it. I hope I never get too old to wear short-shorts. It's my summer saving grace. I was never a fan of deodorant because I never really needed it, ikr? Lucky me, but with the heat lately, I'm thinking I need to buy me a nifty roll-on bottle.

Went out for a few drinks with my BFF last night and she gifted me with the most awesome little things. I'll share with you on my next post.
Also, I finally managed to sew me a turban last night which I will also share on my next post because I haven't had the chance to take photos yet.
Good luck with the heat everyone! Bring bottles of water with you, I hear it's gonna be another sweltering hot 36C/96F day.

What I Wore Today: Heat Stroke + House Of Isla

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

The first photo depicts how I feel about this outfit, which is, "Oh My...." LOL!
I'm still on my period so I don't know if it's just me or something else but I'm totally not loving it, it's really not me at all. In fact, I ended up changing into shorts right before leaving the house. But of course you wouldn't want to see photos of myself in just shorts, a shirt and sneakers right? Not very imaginative...
So, I'm laying my soul out for everyone to judge both hits and misses. Haha, super dramatic! That's what the heat does to me. In case you all are wondering how hot it's getting, our average temperature yesterday was at 36C or 96F for all our farenheit loving friends elsewhere.
Recently, I just really would love to go out in my underwear...but my stretch marks might cause a panic I'm not capable of neutralizing.

On to more positive news, in light of the heat, I still shop for outerwear. Yes, I'm not practical, but as soon as I saw this beautiful blazer in Aileen's shop, I knew I had to have it. It's just so retro and it's just so me and it was just so cheap!
It's probably gonna be awhile til I get to wear this...
Anyway, I'd just like to share with everyone how much of a sweet and patient seller Aileen is. She answered all of my questions regarding the size, and the blah blah blah plus she was so patient in my confused state of finding a way of paying for it. (I'm an MLhuillier virgin.)
Also, the jacket is supposedly vintage but it is in such perfect mint condition. You would think she just pulled it off the rack somewhere just yesterday. And the packaging, the packaging almost brought tears to my eyes and a few kicks from myself at myself telling me to pay more attention to detail when I ship out some of my stuff.
My blazer was meticulously wrapped in recycled paper and sealed with a heart which I'm sorry I ripped in two right away before I was able to take a photo. As if that wasn't enough, I also got the prettiest pouch that I can re-use over and over again for all sorts of things. (It's the yellow polka pictured above)
So, if you haven't heard of her shop yet, please take the time to visit her blog and shop page. Everything is carefully hand-picked and after receiving my package I can guarantee the quality of the things she sells.

Thank you sooo much Aileen! I Laveeet! :)

What I Wore Today: Burrito Blue

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

Nothing special about this outfit post except for the fact that I won't be having my usual "side-view" poses. Had a gigantic burrito the size of my face for lunch. *burp! then afterwards stopped by the grocery to get some milk. Fun! lol! My mom days are usually made up of those kinds of errands.

Here's me rushing to apply some last minute lip gloss on before Dennis takes my photo. We're always rushing to take photos, he gets impatient when I take too long or am too fussy with my hair or clothes, hence the lack of make-up in most of my photos. Such a typical man, my typical man. haha :)
My favorite lip gloss:
barbie loves stila lip glaze in XOXO. LOVE it! :)
and here's my errands outfit for the day:

Question: Is it just me or do you guys also have such a difficult time dressing up during periods? It seems my mind just draws up a complete blank when I stare at my closet's contents during red flag days.

gtg, see you later, have nice day. LIVE GREEN :)

What I Wore Today: Easter

Monday, April 25, 2011

Yesterday officially marks our last day of randomly driving around the city from north to south without any concrete plans in particular. I'm gonna miss it.

diy cami, forever21 trousers, vintage belt and necklace, La Manilla maryjanes

An example of our random day:
Dropped off laundry somewhere in San Juan. Hmm, what to do? Wanna check out Little Tokyo? Sure!
(at Little Tokyo)A little too early for dinner? Kinda....What you wanna do? Burgos? High Street? Eastwood? Okay, Eastwood.
Then church in Santuario. Can you imagine the traffic from Greenhills to Makati to QC on an ordinary day? I wouldn't dream of travelling to and from these places in a single day. My whole mood would just be altered by the time we get to our destination.
The beauty of Holy Week in Manila...I'll miss you! Now, back to reality.

Hope you all have a nice a day! Hope I do too!
oh, and I need to find me some affordable, bright colored trousers. any leads? :)

What I Wore Today: Rihannon

Saturday, April 23, 2011

Woke up late today, gotta get a move on. Might have dinner out with the fam.

I'm hoping there's still no traffic today. It was so pleasant driving from north to south without having to honk your horn at anyone. I wish the buses would just stay as many as they were yesterday. That's it, can't talk much. See you on twitter instead for more updates! lol :)

buh-bye! have a nice day!

What I Wore Today: Babies Day Out

Friday, April 22, 2011

I love spending Holy Week in Manila. The empty streets, the unusually quiet surroundings, you just don't get that everyday in a busy, bustling metropolis. Holy Week in Manila is refreshing.

But since everything is pretty much closed during this time, there's not much to do so my brother suggested yesterday that we take the kids out biking before our "Visita Iglesia". We took them to the UP Campus. Love this place...
The streets are lined with Sunflowers, almost looks like John Hay in Manila...

Nikola just learned how to bike last week. We bought this bike for her 2 years ago but she never got around to actually using it until a few days ago. It's now too small for her so my mom bought her a bigger bike yesterday after their "little trek in the woods".
Comfort was key for me when I was dressing up yesterday. I had to anticipate the heat, running around and sitting on the ground. Hence the toms, and a super relaxed outfit. Pardon the sweat, besides the really loose, cotton clothing, I was still sweating buckets (yuck?) haha, it was really hot! :)

Nikola and her cousin Pablo on their little mountain:
The Baby Daddies:

Running in "the woods"...
Since it's Earth Day, let's end this post with my favorite tree of the day. It was massive and I loved it! Yes, I am a tree-hugging hippie at heart :)

Hope you all have a nice weekend! :)
