What I Wore Today: Errands Style

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

Morning everyone! Just a simple errands outfit for you. This is what I was wearing when I missed the Jewelmer event because of some important errands I had to finish in Paranaque. Life has just been real hectic lately. I find myself always rushing to accomplish task A to Z then rushing to make it on time from point A to B. I am thankful for the opportunities but I just need time to adjust. I miss my daily "blog walks".

In this post, I am wearing wet hair, a loose top from summersault, a scarf from greenhills, ray ban aviators, topshop bell bottoms, accessorize bag, and aldo shoes.
Today I'll be judging a "Recycled and Upcycled" fashion show. I'm so excited! I can't wait to show you pictures of the event.

I'll try to tally the entries for the chicify contest tonight so I can announce the winner by tomorrow or the next day. Thanks for bearing with me! If you want frequent updates, feel free to add me on twitter.

I've yet to show you what I purchased from the Bloggers United Bazaar. I was able to score some really nice items from Kate Torralba, Bestie and Rosana Aranaz!

Have A Nice Day!

What I Wore Today: Nikola at Shangri-La

Sunday, May 29, 2011

I couldn't take a proper outfit post because....

I'm surprised this one turned out "semi-ok", I was on the verge of falling! Hence, the open-mouthed pose.
I've always been a little paranoid about sharing pictures of my daughter in this blog but I really want you guys to see her. So meet the love of my life loving the good life...
She's not allowed to do this at home but in a hotel bed that's not ours she gets to knock herself out jumping up and down on goose down! LOL!
She's really been into astronomy lately and she's been asking for a "telescope" for more than a year so we decided to get her one for her birthday. Too bad the typhoons started coming in and we haven't been able to see the moon yet. Soon, hopefully.
Nikola and Dad figuring out how to put the telescope together...
Finally! Checking out our neighbors in Ascott Hotel...Haha!
"Mommy, why are the bananas in the hotel so yellow? They're so much yummier!"
opening more presents...

Our little dumpling turns 5.
Good Night :)

Skin Care Tips Straight From Murad

I was fortunate enough to be invited by Murad Philippines to have a one on one with Dr. Murad's personal confidante and skin advisor, Zaida Takeshita as well as a chance to get myself familiarized with Murad's latest offering, their Hybrids line.
Murad's Hybrids are a godsend for women everywhere as they do not just camouflage the visible signs of aging on our face but instead they tackle the problem from the root, plumping and stretching where needed in just 15 minutes upon application. It's not just make-up but an efficient tool in battling dark circles, sagging skin, crow's feet, wrinkles and pigmentation.
The Hybrids Line:

A variety of Murad products, each one designed to specifically eliminate and prevent ALL your skin problems.

What I Learned From Ms. Zaida Takeshita:

The age old question, "How do I stay looking young for longer?" is answered here!
  1. SUNSCREEN. Sunscreen is your number one friend and you must use it all times. Indoors or outdoors. Even light bulbs radiate harmful UV rays that can be damaging to skin. Important thing to remember when choosing the right sunscreen: Do not get anything higher than 30spf. Sunscreens with higher spf's than 30 only provide 1% more protection and were tested to contain and cause free radicals. Free radicals speed up the aging process in exponential form.
  2. To battle free radicals you need products containing Anti-Oxidants like Vitamin C, E and Beta-Carotene.
  3. Toners are optional if you have a good cleanser. But toners are beneficial. Toners keep our skin's ph levels in check and can prevent our skin from either drying up too much or being too oily. A good toner also provides vitamins which are beneficial to our dermis. It keeps away germs and gives our face a healthy glow.
  4. Facials a are a must for everyone. If you have normal skin, take it at least 3 times a year. For people with skin problems, consult a dermatologist.
  5. Natural is Best. However, nature in it's purest form can also be unstable. There are many factors that influence the amount of nutrients found in a crop like the soil it was planted in, the time it was harvested, etc. So what Murad does is it takes what is beneficial from nature, bio-engineers it, makes it consistent, stable and safe to be used for our skin. Also, no plants and natural resources are harmed/stripped in the production of Murad's line.
  6. Keep STRESS AT BAY.
  7. It's better to EAT YOUR WATER. Aside from the 8 recommended glasses per day which you piss outright, "eating your water" in the form of fruits and vegetables like cucumbers, watermelons, tomatoes etc (fruits and veggies rich in water) keeps the water in and helps hydrate your skin and its' cells better. Well hydrated skin gives you the "plumpness" of youth that you slowly loose as you age.
If you have any other skin care concerns or would like a one on one consultation, just drop by any Rustan's branch for a free consultation with personally trained Murad staff.
After the event, we decided to have a light snack in Toast Box, Greenbelt 5.
I ordered my favorite Kaya Toast and C had her fill of their Chocolate Toast. Toast Box is yummy and very affordable. A meal like mine which consisted of Kaya Toast, 2 soft-boiled eggs and a tall glass of milk tea only cost me P135. C's was slightly more expensive at round P140.
I definitely recommend the place.

They also serve authentic Singaporean Hainanese Chicken for around P230 with rice and soup plus a myriad of other dishes from Sing which I am dying to try next. Service and ambiance is also excellent. I will do a full review next time.
Hope you learned a thing or two about skin care. Have a nice Sunday!

Don't forget my giveaways. One is ending tomorrow. Just click the corresponding right rail button for details.

Now, I'm off to check out KOBOI! :)

What I Wore Today: The Annual Hangover

Saturday, May 28, 2011

My best friend and daughter share the same birthday which is May 22. So once a year, Mommy gets the chance to be a "party girl", usually on May 21st. Getting up from bed on the 22nd and acting like nothing happened the night before is a whole different story. I have to suck in all the nausea, acid refluxes and headaches and be as enthusiastic as I can be for my daughter's birthday.

Add to that, loud and high-strung children's party MC's and an equally high-strung guest list of kids, equals epic migraine that you have to wear with a winning smile.

This year, I was so relieved when we asked our daughter what she wanted to do for her birthday and her answer was "bubble bath, sleep in the hotel". So we did....heaven....we had a simple celebration at the Makati Shangri-la instead. Love, love love that place and so does my daughter. She knows how to appreciate the finer things in life.

And here is my little baby who loves getting pampered...
and I look so tired! LOL, I sucked it in though and it turned out to be one of her best birthday celebrations ever. Somehow, her smile can take all the pain away magically. I love you babe! happy 5th birthday! Love, mom :)

More on her birthday celebration in my next post. Have a lovely weekend everyone! Don't forget to join my two ongoing giveaways which are both ending soon. Just click on the button at the right rail. :)

What I Wore Today: Maroon 5

Friday, May 27, 2011

Sorry for lack of better photos, I was alone when I was getting ready. So yup, I got to watch Maroon 5 at the last minute. I am not a super fan of Maroon 5 but I like their music. We were contemplating for the last month or so wether or not to purchase tickets but since me and C. have credit card debts needing to be paid, we decided to skip it. Fortunately, at around 5pm, the same day of the concert, I received a call from my best friend asking if I wanted to watch the concert with her for free. They managed to score some tickets through valuable connections. Of course, I said yes!

There was a storm that day and I was pretty sure we were going to have to trek from the parking lot to the events place so I decided to wear my Doc Martens. If there's one thing I hate, it's wet feet! This is what I wore:
Mustard Motorcycle Jacket - Croft and Barrow
Floral Dress - Glamour Studio
Sheer Stockings - Landmark
Bag- Accessorize
and Doc Martens
The concert was held in SMX which was basically something resembling a giant warehouse inside. No seats, no elevation. Since we only had bronze tickets, we were pretty far back from the stage (this made me wish I wore a pair of comfortable wedges instead). I could only catch a glimpse of the drummer's head the entire time. Good thing they had projectors so I could see what was going on on stage.
there's something about this photo that makes us both look really fat/wide! hehe

Before the concert started, there were these foam images floating in the air which said Fox. I guess Fox TV was their sponsor. They were quite interesting since it was the first time I have ever seen giant foam bubbles resembling words.

They're called Flogos. My over-all impression of Flogos? Yes, they're a new advertising/marketing tool. Anything new should cause quite a stir but I also think, just by looking at it, that they are terribly bad for the environment and tacky. So utterly "common" if you will (hehe).
These are the best shots of the concert I can share with you given my location:
The highlight of the concert for me other than when he sang old favorites from their first two albums was when Adam Levine performed their own rendition of the Alicia Keys hit, "If I Ain't Got You". The crowd went wild and his vocal range is amazing.
Overall, the Maroon 5 concert was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. And even if I didn't pay to get in this time, if I could turn back time, I would get a better ticket.
It was a no frills, pure talent concert and their rapport with the crowd was amazing. They really made an effort to communicate with their audience which their fans were more than happy to reciprocate with thunderous applause and shrieks from the fan girls. They sang more than 10 songs (I lost count after 11) and the entire concert lasted over an hour without an opening act. I am a big fan again! :)

The concert ended early since there was no opening act so we got to hang out in Chili's before heading home to knock back a few beers and a plate of fries and eggrolls. Yum!

Don't forget about my giveaways! They're both ending soon. Just click on the buttons at the right rail for details. :)

Have A Nice Day!
