A Paisley Surprise: Woven Danish Loafers ++++

Thursday, September 29, 2011

Almost nothing beats the feeling of arriving home after a tiring day and finding a beautifully wrapped package, or in this case, packages, just waiting for you to open them and discover the wonderful surprises inside!

Your heart skips a bit with every rip of the scotch tape and it all together momentarily stops beating as you inhale a whiff of that new bag/shoe smell that we've all come to love and appreciate. <3

This is exactly how I felt, when I got home a few days ago and found this wonderful polka-dot package waiting for me from Paisley Clothing.

First up, these beautiful woven, danish style loafers. They are the most beautiful pair of loafers I have ever laid my eyes on! I hardly wear flats anymore because I am quite vertically challenged and they make me feel extra tiny, but these are just too perfect to pass up...and comfy too!

"When I fall in love with a pair of flats, they have to be extra special....and these truly are."

Up next are what I now call my "Momma Bag" and my "Tidy Bag":
My tidy bag is like a beautiful cross between a satchel and an Hermes Kelly. It is a perfect size, color and shape...also comes with a shoulder strap! :)
What I extremely love about this bag is that it's really roomy without feeling and looking bulky. It has enough space to fit my wristlet (wallet), medium sized cosmetic case, cellphone, lotion, keys, ballpens, etc. (I think I'll do a "what's in my bag" post soon. You want? :)

Plus, because of its structured shape, everything stays in its place. I have stopped digging into my purse endlessly just trying to look for my keys or lipgloss. Now everything is at my reach, much less stressful.

My "Momma Bag" is this great big classy carry-all which can literally well, carry all! It makes a perfect baby bag, work bag, beach bag, overnight bag, shopping bag, gym bag, it can possibly take on the role of almost all the kinds of bags you can imagine except maybe an evening bag :P

It also really helps that it looks effortlessly chic! Right now I use it to carry my files and my daughter's stuff but I can already imagine myself slinging this bag over my shoulder with a giant floppy hat in the summer at the beach.
I really love the new direction Paisley's going in and I'm happy that they finally decided to design and manufacture their own bags and shoes. You can tell that a lot of thought and care was put into each design. The quality is also quite commendable. Excellent materials and craftsmanship.
I didn't go on and on about all the free and wonderful stuff I got just to get you jealous, I did it to build up the desire and excitement for this surprise!!! :)
What I didn't mention was that inside those two gigantic polka-dot packages, were 4 items, not just the 3 I mentioned and went on and on about, above. Inside this sealed 4th package is mine and Paisley's surprise for one of you lucky readers because we love you! :)

Wanna know what's inside? Stay tuned. <3

Hi friends!

Sorry about the long hiatus. My internet went down during the storm and our service was only restored today.

I hope everyone's safe and doing fine. Just wanted to say hi and check up on all of you. I missed you guys and my blog so much!

I've been working really hard lately and I am beyond "Pagoda!" (tired) LOL! But I have quite a bit of delayed posts to share with you and a really, really awesome surprise for all of you too so stay tuned :)

I have a Mega event later that I'm resting up for. I need to take a nap cause I spent the entire day scouring the grounds of Divisoria and capped it off with a lengthy meeting. I feel like my body is about to collapse! :P

Hopefully, I'll start having regular posts again tomorrow. There, just wanted to chat a bit with everyone. Missed you guys! How've you been? :)

New Shoes!

Sunday, September 25, 2011

Another quick post! Meet my new shoes :D

I ordered a couple of pairs from Asian Vogue but the thing about pre-order shoes is that I get so antsy after a couple of weeks. I can't shake away the "bitin" feeling! It's so hard, I feel like a heroin addict needing a quick fix!

So yesterday, I was in Megamall on assignment for work when on the way home, I HAD to pass by Forever21. Since me and Dennis just came from an Eat All You Can feast at Kebab Factory, I didn't feel like trying on any clothes (plus the lines are just crazy) so I made a beeline for the shoe section instead, and found these:
Which obviously ended up going home with me.

Today naman, we were in Shang for "family day" and Nikola needed to do some clothes/shoe shopping as well (they grow out of their clothes sooo fast!). After I finished getting everything she needed, mommy needed to reward herself with a quick trip to Crossings. Again, not expecting to fin anything like the previous day until this pair caught my attention:
Sorry about the bad picture, still wearing it and that was just a quick tweetpic that I grabbed :P I'm such a sucker for glitter!

How was your Sunday? Hope it was as amazing as mine :)

Funky Monkey

A post fitting for a Sunday.
What do you guys do on Sundays? I try to reserve my Sundays for Fat Days. There is almost nothing better than lying on the couch all day, with your phone beside you and your favorite restaurant on speed dial. Every Sunday, I try to watch as many dvd's as I can and stuff myself with as much food as my body can handle.

I can only classify this as some sort of substance abuse :P Since I am already embracing the unhealthy, I might as well do it with the best so my effort isn't wasted. lol!

Enter hotel chocolates. Even with the growing gourmet chocolate stands and boutiques found in the malls today, I still think hotels, particularly Shangri-la and Peninsula still produce the best chocolates in Manila. I can never resist their millk chocolate truffles!

Since milk chocolates are their most popular chocolate confection, I decided to review something else. Something you may not have tried yet...The Funky Monkey!

Imagine, the same creamy, premium milk chocolate used for their legendary truffles but in a bar form with marshmallows and crispies. Perfect for kids and kids at heart!
Extremely difficult to put down. Those of you with low E.Q. and little to no self control must not attempt to try this. Funky Monkey is soul food. Perfection in a chocolate bar :P
Happy Sunday Folks! Here's to a day of BB (buhay baboy!/living like a pig :P)!!!

I am now on the phone with Shakey's about to order us a Party size Cheese and Garlic Pizza and a basket of Mojos! Yummy! :)

What I Wore Today: Sexy Back

Saturday, September 24, 2011

dress from Summersault

I wore this to the dinner we had at Mango Tree Bistro. Recently, I've been drawn to interesting backs like this one and the one I wore to the Mango Fashion Show. I prefer flaunting my back rather than my front. It gives me a sense of understated sexy and I prefer that than letting it all hang out :P

Work is really crazy this week so please bear with me. I am struggling to survive and make it through. It's the weekend but I still have a ton of stuff to finish. I hope I get done by this afternoon so I can have the night off for a change.

Take care everyone, enjoy your Saturday! :)

Mango Tree Bistro, Greenbelt 5 Review

Friday, September 23, 2011

For one night only, a select group of fashion bloggers were fortunate enough to experience a taste of being a food blogger at Mango Tree Bistro, Greenbelt 5.

After a slew of cocktail party-ish events, this sit down dinner among friends was definitely a breath of much needed fresh air.
Mango Tree Bistro is located in Greenbelt 5, along the same strip as Mr. Jones and Lorenzo's. It's modern and stylish facade is hard to miss, very cosmopolitan. The interiors don't disappoint either.

While waiting for the other bloggers to arrive, we all had a fun time catching up. Because of work, I haven't been attending as many events as I used to. It's been quite awhile since I last saw my blog friends and this night was a perfect time to socialize and talk.

Browsing the menu through the bistro's iPad:

Aie, Krissy, Ana and Me

We were definitely pampered, complete with personalized place cards. VIP much? :P

Thai Iced Tea which tasted a lot like Milk Tea. Very Good!

Som Tum Thai - classic fresh spicy Thai green papaya with dried shrimps, peanuts, tomatoes and yum sauce.
One of my favorite dishes of the night. The vegetables were very fresh, like they were just picked from the garden a few hours before and the contrast of the salty dried shrimps against the sweet and tangy yum sauce was perfection!

Tom Yum Goong - spicy and sour soup with mushrooms, shrimps kaffir, lemongrass, galangal and fresh herbs. Also very good.

Thod Mun Goong - deep fried fresh shrimp cakes with sweet chili dip

Another excellent dish - Talay Prik Thai Dum - stir fried seafood with black pepper sauce. I love almost anything with yellow capsicums!

The set menu for the night originally had red beef curry on it but since Ana's a vegan and I don't eat beef, they were kind enough to switch it into a Red Chicken Curry with Eggplant for us.

Double Dessert! Khao Niew Mamuang - imported fragrant jasmine sticky ricce with coconut cream sauce and mushroom + cheesecake which you definitely have to order.

Chef cutting up the chicken for us while explaining how it's prepared:

Pad Thai Jay - stir fried rice noodles with bean sprouts , egg, tofu, peanuts, chives.

I am a big Pad Thai fan and I have tried my fair share of them all over Manila, Mango Tree Bistro's version is at the top of my list.It is definitely one of the best Pad Thai's I have ever tried in Manila. A must order!

Gai Ta Krai Yang - Mango Tree signature grilled lemongrass chicken with Northwestern Thai dipping sauce.
Also very good and a great alternative to Pandan Chicken. Kids will love this. Very tender and juicy with delicate flavors. Excellent with steaming hot Jasmine Rice.

There was so much food! And everything was so delicious, we couldn't stop eating despite being filled to the brim. That makes us very happy bloggers!

Vern, Pax and Aie:

Pax and Aie:

After a very heavy dinner, they treated us to drinks. I ordered a Bellini. Theirs is also very good, not too sweet with the right amount of liquor in it.

Ana and me enjoying our Bellinis.

Overall verdict: Mango Tree Bistro is one of the better Thai restaurants in Manila. A great place for an intimate dinner. You must try their Pad Thai, Tom Yum, Som Tum Thai, Talay Prik Thai Dum, and their cheesecake. And I almost forgot, they have excellent service. Your needs are heeded even before you realize it.

Thanks again for the invite, it was truly a night to remember.
