Im Back

Hi everyone! Sorry for the long hiatus and for being mia on twitter and Facebook for so long. We decided to spend our Christmas in Baguio at the last minute instead of leaving afterwards hence, no time to do any scheduled posts + I lost the signal on my phone during the whole vacation when we tried to turn it into a "hotspot" (not very sure if you call it that). It still doesn't have signal til now but I'm taking it to Greenhills tomorrow to have it fixed, so again, im sorry if I haven't been able to reply to your texts, will try to settle everything by tomorrow or the day after at the latest..

I also brought my tattoo stick with me cause I was planning to do a few posts while still on vacation but the signal and speed was so bad in our house.

Anyway, just wanted to do a quick post from my phone (because my netbook has also been acting up, I swear all my techy gadgets are going y2k on me! :P), to check on all of you, see how you're all doing, to thank everyone who visited my blog even while I was away and to greet everyone a very happy new year! This year has been really great because of all of you. Wish everyone the best! Excited to be back blogging. Happy 2012 peeps! Boo ya!

Burger Project Review

Saturday, December 24, 2011

After another tiring but successful day of selling our clothes for the benefit of the Sendong victims, we took a short trek to The Burger Project to reward ourselves.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Burger Project prior to this visit so I was really excited to give it a try.

At The Burger Project, you have the option of choosing one of their proven designer burgers....

Or, you can go the brave route and design one yourself just like we did!

The staff at The Burger Project are also very nice and accomodating. I also love that they have an in-depth knowledge of their product.

I don't eat beef so it's a big plus for me that they took people like me into consideration when they designed their menu. The Burger Project is Vegan Friendly with their Tofu Patties and Oatmeal and Potato Buns.

Now on to the food...

I'm sure that a lot of people will agree with me when I say that everything at The Burger Project is better.

From my personal observation, I think that The Burger Project likes to kick it "Old School" meaning that unlike most fastfood counterparts, The Burger Project prefers to rely on good, old-fashioned, quality ingredients to deliver unforgettable meals.

Their Milk Shakes and Iced Tea takes you on a nostalgi trip to the eighties. Sipping on my Strawberry milkshake took me back to those Magnolia Ice Cream house days while the Iced Tea is homemade and almost identical to the ones I used to share with my Grandpa at the country club.

Next up, mozarella cheese logs with marinara sauce

in all its cheesy goodness!
Onion Rings...by far the best I've ever tried. Made with real onions and a super crisp coating with just the right amount of seasoning!

Homemade Fries - again, crisp on the outside just the way it should be.

And finally, here's my burger! The Ms. Eggplant!

A juicy double chicken patty with a sesame seed bun, topped with sun-dried tomatoes, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomatoes and finished of with a lovely Marinara Sauce! Dee-licious!

Schedule a visit to the Burger Project today and don't forget to try out the "Ms. Eggplant" burger! :)

Nomnomnom, yummy!

How to eat a large burger as told by a burger connoiseur - "Turn burger upside down and eat from the bottom up so the contents don't spill over."

My House Husband Presscon at Guilly's

My Househusband is Octoarts films' entry this year to the Manila Film Festival. Unlike most entries which rely on the tried and tested dramatics or slapstick tactics of recent local movies, My Househusband banks itself on a witty script, talented actors and an amazing director full of imagination.

This latest presscon of My Househusband was held in Guilly's Tomas Morato where all of its topbilling actors were present sans Direk Joey who was missed at the event.

The presence of Eugene Domingo during this presscon really turned the affair into a relaxed and hilarious afternoon. I swear, she is one of the funniest people I've ever encountered and it seems to come so naturally to her.

Judyanne on the other hand has this aura around her that is so strong you know that it can only be reserved for a few, special people; true superstars in their own right. I've met several actors and actresses in the industry but few carry this type of enigma and "star power".

And here's a short summary of the movie:

The movie revolves around Rod (Ryan Agoncillo), a bank manager who suddenly lost his job and his wife Mia (Judy Ann Santos) who had to take on a job to provide for their family.  WhileMia continuously excels on her job at the insurance agency, Rodadjusts to doing domesticated houseworks.  In the process, he befriends their neighbor Aida (Eugene Domingo), who everybody in the neighborhood knows is "the other woman" of a rich man.
It's a story of a couple who goes through the changes and trials of role reversal in the family. A story of a mistress who needed to realize her self-worth as a woman, and a human being.

My Househusband is the first movie that Ryan and Juday have starrred in as a couple since they tied the knot thus bringing to the screen a genuine understanding of their roles which is ver much evident in their acting.

With the stellar acting prowess of its talents and the very relatable story of "My Househusband: Ikaw Na!" , it is expected to lead box-office results and bring home the highest awards in the MMFF 2011....

that's why I am very excited to watch it's premiere tonight! :)

My Househusband:Ikaw Na opens in local cinemas on Christmas Day

bar dolci review

Wednesday, December 21, 2011

Several days ago, I was invited by Ana and OpenRice.com to try out Bar Dolci in Burgos Circle, The Fort.
Bar Dolci's interiors make you feel like you're in some chic foreign place like Hong Kong
VIP wall...or should I say walls (nearly the entire ground floor is covered in these signatures) where VIP's and loyal customers get to tally their visits! Cute concept and love the neon pens! :)
Gelatto in all the possible flavors you can imagine!

Notable flavors, definite must-trys are the salted caramel, live yoghurt, manhattan cheesecake and ferrero.
Gift boxes are also available, great for Christmas or pasalubong for the fam :)
This, I gotta try on my next visit, Alcoholic Frozen Gelatto Pops with flavors like Tequila Rose and Guiness Beer!
Macarons, macarons, macarons....
a little trivia about Macarons...Macarons are created almost the same way Chocolate Truffles are with the sweet, premium chocolate ganache center hence the hefty price tag! Now you know :P

Bright and roomy interiors of Bar Dolci!

Now, we head upstairs to meet with the rest of the Open Rice people to try out the treats that Bar Dolci prepared for us!

First up were three variants of their Bruschetta, four cheese, cheese and bacon, mushroom and cheese.

Among the three, it was the four cheese that took my breathe away. Four cheese bruschetta is a combination of Mozarella, Parmesan, Gruyere and Cheddar. The simplicity of it all combined with a great-tasting marinara sauce + homebaked bruschetta is divine!
mushroom and cheese bruschetta
bacon and cheese bruschetta
These Gruyere Poofs with Marinara sauce were perhaps my most favorite during the entire visit. The gruyere poofs have a delicate flavor and pairing it with the marinara sauce creates a wonderful contrast of flavors.

Now on to the sweet stuff! I'm really more of a savory person but I have to admit, the desserts at Bar Dolci are pretty hard to resist. Their dessert menu basically consists of all-time favorites but given a special "Bar Dolci Tweak".
Beignets with Chocolate Espresso Dip

Their Beignets are identical to Churros except for its dip which is made with premium chocolate and espresso. It's thick, rich and tastes and feels very luxurious in the mouth.

Now on to everyone's favorite, Macarons!

One word: FERRERO! 'nuff said!
Fashion bloggers turned food bloggers! With Ana, Pax and Melai. Hello, new hair! Yes, first public appearance of my new hairdo. :)

Can you spot my name? Planning to add more tics to that very soon!

Bar Dolci is a great place to hang out for coffee with your girlfriends. It's also perfect for a quick date with that special someone. Also, with free wi-fi, it's a place you can visit whenever you feel like spending some quality "me-time" with yourself.
