Since I was super busy during both days of Bloggers United 4, I had to re-shoot my outfit. This is what I wore for the first day. Through the years, I have sort of learned the hard way that it is most practical for clumsy people like me to wear black during BU. My hands get so soiled handling money, clothes, shoes etc that I always end up with dirty fingerprints on my clothes. This way, no one can see. :))

Also, as you might have noticed, hats, bowler hats in particular, have become a mainstay for me lately. I find that it is the easiest solution to cover up the awkward stages of my hair. I am trying to grow it again but the in-between process is so frustrating.

Anyway, hope you guys have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Cheers to a great 2013! Only hope the best for everyone. xoxo

Something glittery and sparkly today to welcome the eve of the eve of 2013!

Proudly wearing my new Ant buckle platform boots from Topshop which everyone was against me buying. See, it was a decision between these and the Jeffrey Campbell Don't Evens. Everyone wanted me to buy the JC's but I just couldn't resists these lovely androgynous boots. Anyway, being the shoe addict that I am, I ended up getting the JC's as well after a couple days so all the debates ultimately was a waste of time. I just couldn't resist.

Well, gotta get ready in a bit. Me and my "blog family" are having a year ender celebration at my place in a bit so I gotta start freshening up and starting work in the kitchen. What have you guys got planned for new year's eve? :)

Greeka Kouzina, San Juan Review

Saturday, December 29, 2012

Greeka Kouzina is located along P.Guevara Street in San Juan, really near our place and en route to my mom's house. Being big Greek food fans, me and Dennis have been dying to try it out but each time we pass the place, it's always packed.

Luckily though, a few weeks ago, we managed to snag a spot and finally check it out for ourselves.

Greeka Kouzina San Juan

Greeka Kouzina Philippines
The menu at Greeka Kouzina is extensive with everything on it being equally tempting as the next. We had a really difficult time deciding what to order so we asked the help of their waiters. Their food may seem a little pricey at first glance but note that everything is served huge and big enough for sharing.

Being hefty eaters, we were quite skeptical at first about "sharing" because normally, when a restaurant says big enough for sharing, it still really isn't for us and we'd eventually have to order two viands anyway. But while deciding on what we were going to have for dinner we managed to spy the large plates on the table next to us so we decided to take the word of the waiter.

For starters, we settled on their Halloumi Salad (P380) which is grilled Halloumi Cheese on a bed of watercress greens. According to one of the owners, Halloumi Cheese is quite rare in our country. It's made with a mix a goat's milk, sheep's milk and cow's milk.

Each order comes with around 6 generous slices of grilled Halloumi Cheese. The texture of Halloumi is similar to string cheese but taste-wise they are nothing alike. Halloumi is salty and flavorful provinding a great contrast to the nutty watercress and tangy dressing in the salad.
Halloumi Salad Greeka Kouzina
For our main entree, we ordered the Roast Lamb Shoulder (P495).

Huge. Almost as big as two newborn baby heads. (morbid? sorry :P)

Anyway, it was huge, dripping with succulent juices and the flavor was just or-gas-mic.
Despite being filled to the brim, being greedy, we were almost tempted to order another one because it was just soooo damn good. (One of the best lamb dishes I have ever tried.) And then we thought about our poor arteries and decided against it.

Lamb Shoulder Greeka Kouzina
Since we already ordered two servings of their Spanakoriza or Spinach Rice (P180), to accompany our lamb.

Spanakorizo / Spinach Rice Greeka Kouzina
Spinach Rice is rice mixed with spinach, dill, mint and other herbs plus hefty servings of feta cheese on top. Sprinkle with lemon juice to finish.

I think the fact that we had two servings already speaks in itself. It's also a great way to fool your kids into eating Spinach.

So the verdict is probably obvious. Greeka Kouzina is one place you should definitely schedule a trip to no matter how far away you live or what time of day you decide to visit (they have gyros and dips perfect for merienda sessions too). I promise that you will leave with a happy tummy and a new appreciation (plus cravings) for Greek food.

Greeka Kouzina is located at 285 P. Guevarra St, San Juan, Metro Manila
You can call them at 6245974

ps. It's probably wise to call in ahead of time and make a reservation. Also, being fairly new, bring cash because I am not sure if they accept credit cards yet.

Holiday festivities aren't restricted to Christmas Day alone, endless parties litter the days spread out between Christmas and New Years. And all throughout, I enjoy dressing in the festive theme. It makes going out more fun, don't you think?

This dress I recently got from eDressy.com makes me feel like a present waiting to be opened on Christmas morning (no pun intended).

Unlike most online international shops that concentrate on selling RTW, eDressy specializes in making affordable custom dresses and gowns that arrive straight to your doorstep days before your special engagement. It's a site that I believe most women should have bookmarked into their web browsers.

There are hundreds of dresses and gowns listed like beautiful frocks inpired by those worn by a-list celebrities at the Oscars to gorgeous meticulously beaded wedding gowns. It really is a modern and more affordable alternative to having your dresses sewn by local couturier's. I was delighted by the quality of my dress when it arrived. The fabric was beautiful and it even had "bones" sewn in to tuck me in all the right places and of course, because it was custom created, it fit perfectly! It's worth checking out laidies, trust me :)

Some photos of me doing what I do best. Shopping.

While wearing what I wear best, a lazy sweater, shorts, and trainers for maximum comfort and ultimate mall coverage!

Kidding aside, if I could choose a daily uniform, it would definitely fall under the lines of this. There is nothing I enjoy wearing more than an oversized cozy jumper.

Since my black studded sweater from UnaRosa already makes quite a statement on its own, there isn't really much room for accessories. That's when these simple gold earrings from Karat World are perfect to put on. They add just the right amount of shine to my face. I love how flat it is that it almost looks like a sticker stuck to my earlobe.

And when wearing monochrome outfits like these, it's nice to add a little pop of color/print with your "non-bling" accessories like my new favorite burgundy bowler hat from SM Accessories and my new lime green Veloci watch from L Time Studio. I love the bright contrast between the two.

Can you guess which shop I'm headed to? ;)

I was immediately smitten by the sleek, no nonsense design of Veloci Watches. The fact that they come with three interchangeable straps and a very reasonable price tag makes them all the more difficult to resist. They're so much fun to wear and mix and match with my outfits.

Christmas at Makati Shangrila 2012

Tuesday, December 25, 2012

First off, I'd like to greet everyone a very, merry Christmas! Hope you all were able to spend it with your loved ones.

This year has been major hectic, not just for me I think, but for everyone. Seems like there wasn't enough time to prepare for Christmas as much as the past years which is probably why we spent our Christmas dinner and mass at Makati Shangri-la. If you ask me, most of the Manila population had the same idea because the place was packed. If not for the opulent interiors you'd think you were in the middle of Megamall on a Sunday. But it was nice to see a lot of smiling faces all around. Makes you feel a lot more Christmas-sy especially with the beautifully decorated Christmas trees, Angels and Santa Claus milling about.

I have been so busy these past few weeks buying last minute Christmas presents and shopping for outfits for Dennis and Nikola that I forgot to pick something out for myself. I had to make do with what I had in my closet. I didn't really feel like doing the traditional red dress Christmas route so I kinda went for a "winter wonderland-ish" outfit instead.

I paired my furry white sweater from Denise with a DIY midnight blue midi skirt I made for myself some months ago. Shoes are from Zara (last year) and the clutch was a Christmas gift from my "Ninang Anagon". I first saw this studded leopard print clutch from Kookie last BU4 and immediately fell in love. But it's from Tonic all the way in The Ramp Glorietta which is kinda far from me so I asked Ana as a favor to pick it up first since she was in the area. Instead, she surprised me with it as her gift. Sweet talaga ni Cheesy Gonzales! (love you babe, hahaha :))
