diy: quick safety pin bracelets

Sunday, April 14, 2013

Hi all! It's been awhile since my last DIY so I guess it's about due time that I get started again.
Here's a quick, easy and very affordable safety pin bracelet tutorial that you can easily create with stuff lying around in your house. It also adds a lot of fun and ingenuity to your arm party!

What You'll Need:

  1. safety pins
  2. metal rings
  3. chains (you can re-use old broken necklaces)
  4. pair of pliers

Okay, let's get started. First, you have to fold back the "guard thing" at the head of your safety pin with a pair of pliers to make the metal ring fit smoothly later on...

You'll end up with something looking like this:

Next measure how long you want your bracelet to be, cut chain to appropriate length then open up your metal ring and slip one end of the chain and the circular hole at the butt of your safety pin:

Do the same on the other end:

That's it! Your safety pin becomes a unique lock and accent piece at the same time!

Keeping them in its silver tone gives off a great punk vibe and also makes it blend in easily with your other accessories...

However, since it's summer and this is super easy and cheap to make, you can create lots of variations to suit your every mood. Like this one I spray painted in neon pink. Or like the ombre one I made in the picture above (will provide ainstructions on how to make your own ombre accessories in a future post, still need to edit photos)

There you go, hope you enjoyed this tutorial :)
