yabu opens in sm north

Yabu once again proves they're one of the best restos in the Metro by opening yet another branch in such a short span of time.

The undeniable northerner heed for katsu has been answered by the launch of their latest branch in SM North. And, if you're thinking that they might be spreading themselves out too thinly, think again. Just like all their other branches, quality and flavor is still  as consistent as when they first opened in SM Megamall.

I look a little scary in this photo, trying to make my eyes appear larger because I was dead tired by this time having travelled from Fort to MOA and finally, SM North, all in one day. I never miss the chance to eat in one of my fave restos for free :P Thank you for always having us Yabu!

During this opening most of went for our favorite staple Katsu sets but Paul took the plunge and decided to try something new: the Kurobuta Miso Katsu set. I've tried the regular Kuobuta Katsu set before and O.M.G. it's pork like you've never tried before. Melt in your mouth goodness to the very last bite.

I, on the otherhand, can never complete a visit to Yabu without my appetizer combo of Wakame and Potato Salad (with lots of S&B lime pepper). Nom-nom! Also got to try their new baby octopus starter, the Iidako Salad, makes me wish they offer a 3 dish sampler instead. It's sweet and tangy flavor leaves a lingering  taste in your mouth that makes you crave for it days after.

I couldn't decide on my main so I ordered the Mixed Katsu set which is a combination of pork, shrimp, scallops and fish. Aside from the sesame sauce, it also comes with a mayonnaise based dip that makes a  perfect accompaniment for the seafood. New favorite! Big portions though so I suggest you share and maybe order the brown rice instead of the white to stave off a little bit of the guilt. :P

And lastly, if you're looking for one good reason to make another visit to Yabu, it's these. Their new dessert (which I forgot to catch the name of since we were too busy devouring it). It's ice cream on a super rich and moist chocolate base that is like a cross between a pudding, souffle and brownie. To die for. Do not go there without ordering this. I'm dead serious. The vanilla was especially delicious for me.
