asilo tagaytay by avida land

Thursday, February 28, 2013

It used to be that only the extremely rich could afford the luxury of a vacation home in Tagaytay. Those days are over. Avida Land’s latest project, “Asilo Tagaytay” gives regular folk like us the opportunity to invest and enjoy the benefits of a weekend home with realistic price points. Asilo Tagaytay is a project of Ayala Land’s affordable housing arm, Avida.

Derived from the Tagalog word “silong”, Asilo Tagaytay promises to provide future homeowners with spacious units boasting Avida’s 5 condo must-have’s:  free flowing air and sunlight, fewer units per floor, sensible amenities, easy payment terms and emergency power, even inside your unit. A definite must for provincial dwellings since electricity tends to fluctuate more.

The over-all design of Asilo Tagaytay was created to blend in perfectly with nature and not overpower it.  Pitched roofs give the buildings a look reminiscent of old Tagaytay while ample balconies allow unit owners to make the most out of the beautiful views of Taal Lake and its volcano. Imagine waking up to the cool breeze of Tagaytay with a cup of hot coffee in your hands as you relax and read the morning paper in the privacy of your very own terrace.

asilo tagaytay 2 bedroom unit

Aside from the residential condos, Asilo Tagaytay will also have a retail area which will showcase a myriad of restaurants and store fronts selling local products like fruits, flowers and various delicacies eliminating the need for awkward stopovers at streets and markets. With ample grounds and beautiful surroundings, this is sure to be the new favorite destination for weekend lunches.

Asilo Tagaytay is located right next to Our Lady Of Lourdes Parish Church and its units range from 22-30sq.m for a studio unit, 40-50sq.m for a 1 bedroom unit, and 60-80sq.m for a 2 bedroom unit. Price starts at P2m for a studio and peaks at P7.5m for the largest 2 bedroom unit making it not at all impossible to finally own a condominium in Tagaytay.

What I love most about the idea of having a condominium in Tagaytay is its close proximity to the city and the beach. It doesn’t need a lot of planning to head up plus it gives me the option to drive to Batangas for the day to wakeboard, swim or whatever other activities I feel like doing and yet be able to go back to the privacy of my own living quarters in Tagaytay by night. It also makes for great spontaneous weekend honeymoons with my husband. Even better, because it’s a condo and not a house, it requires less maintenance. (Yay!)

With Avida’s stretched payment schemes, I am quite tempted to get a 1 bedroom unit myself. I love the idea of having our very own getaway.  Their leasing services should take care of those languid months when I am either too busy or too lazy to head down south making it a win-win situation for me.

t by alexander wang twist skirt tutorial

Wednesday, February 27, 2013

duplicate post - had to make a new post since I put the wrong title in before and I had to repair photos as well. anyway, it's the same tutorial as the one I created a year ago, enjoy :)

I have been obssesed with these Alexander Wang ruched skirts so I decided to try making one on my own.

Let's get started.

What You'll Need:

  1. 1 yard stretch fabric of your choice.
  2. Sewing machine or needle and matching thread.
  3. Elastic (I recommend 3/4"-1" wide)
  4. Tape Measure
  5. Skirt with a fit you like

Steps:

diy alexander wang twist skirt

And you're done!
Wear and style accordingly:

You can adjust the folds on the skirt by just twisting and moving it around to make it less dramatic, like the Alexander Wang but I arranged the folds to hike it up a bit more in the middle cause I find that it flatters my short legs more.

Good Luck and Have Fun Sewing!

I finally got my navy blue irregular hem maxi dress from Chicnova and it's all I expected it to be and more. I already know that it's going to be a favorite summer staple for me, I plan to get it in orange as well. I love the irregular cut of the hem and its basic simplicity makes it easy to style in many ways. I can wear it casually like this or belt it up and add heels for a slightly more formal look.

Speaking of maxi's, my sewing machine just got repaired earlier today (yahoo) so I'm going to start working on some new DIYs, tutorials and summer clothes soon. If you want to order maxi skirts from me (i'm now offering them with a slit up the side :)), just send me an email at admin@fashioneggplant.com.

Hi all! Like I said in my previous post, been working on a new project. These projects of mine entail being on the field most of the time so a comfy outfit is a must since "werk" means sourcing and factory visits.

And probably the most comfy thing in my closet is this old tattered pair of levi's cut-offs that I've had for so long they're so soft already which I love. Matched it with a simple chiffon top to dress it up a little more and finished it off with my moschino belt from designerati. I am always on the lookout for accessories like this belt which make a huge statement on their own. They're so useful for days when I'm in a hurry and only have time to put together a basic ensemble. Accessories like this have the power to make things look a little more special.

if you're going to san francisco, be sure to wear flowers in your hair

Sunday, February 24, 2013

First an apology for the sporadic posting. Aside from Dennis being extremely busy with work lately and unable to find the time to take my photos, I have also started a couple of personal ventures that I hope you will support me in once launched. I am very excited about both and I can't wait to share it with you. If everything goes according to plan, I will be able to announce it in a week or two. So, I hope you'll stay tuned for that and wait for it with as much anticipation as I am feeling.

Second, the flowers in my hair. Always having been a flower child at heart, I believe that you are never too old to wear flowers in your hair. (I just wish my hair was a little bit longer. I can't wait for it to grow out, it's taking so long and this awkward stage is annoying. I don't know what to do with it so I've resulted to wearing hats mostly.)

I got this pretty, white, flouncy dress recently from wholesale-dress and I took it as a perfect opportunity to excercise my rights as a hippie and don the said flowers on my head. Actually, it's my daughter's lei that she got from a beach themed birthday party sometime ago. I just twisted it twice and stuck it on.

I got this dress for a song and it is probably the most versatile dress I own. The material is of surprising quality despite it's very reasonable price tag. I can also wear it as a dress, tunic, backwards or forwards. If that isn't versatile, I don't know what is. hehe

I'll leave you with that for now. Have a great Sunday everyone :)

breeze sige sa mantsa event

Wednesday, February 20, 2013

Breeze laundry detergent is back!
To celebrate it's launch and to announce it's latest line up of brand ambassadors, an event was held in Manila Polo Club for both moms and their kids.

The event circled around the theme "Sige Sa Mantsa" which encourages moms to let their kids explore without worrying about getting their clothes stained.

Breeze believes that we should allow our kids to explore because it is through experience that they gain knowledge. Nevermind the stress of getting tough stains off their clothes in the process. Breeze's new "activ-bleach" formula will do all the hardwork for you and get even the toughest stains out in a cinch.

Outdoor play also helps children become more creative and Breeze further encouraged this by setting up fun, interactive obstacle courses that both kids and parents could participate in for stickers that they could later exchange for craft-related toys.

breeze sige sa mantsa polo club
breeze brand ambassador launch

It was really a well-planned and thought of event and it was also extremely pleasurable watching the kids flourish in the many "play stations" prepared for them.

Nikola could barely leave the "stained glass" making station.

It was definitely refreshing to just let go and allow Nikola to explore and discover new interests without having to worry much about mess and clean up time. You could see the glow and excitement in all the children's eyes. I did not hear a single cry from any child throughout the event which really speaks volumes since that is usually the norm whenever there is a big crowd. Kids tend to get overwhelmed but not here. It was really nourishing for everyone.

Which goes to show that telling your kids to "sige, go ahead, explore and experience the world" really brings out the best in them.

Doing laundry is now a breeze, thanks to Breeze (hehe, couldn't help putting in this line), but it's true. Now we can all relax, exhale and collectively say, Go, "sige sa mantsa!"
