Ombre Nails and Katy Perry for OPI
I guess this trend has been around since the beginning of the year but I personally just recently came across it. They are so gorgeous but seem so difficult to recreate on your own, I can't imagine my left hand being able to do this to my right. It almost seems like it was airbrushed on their nails.
I received a set of Coach Nail Polish for Christmas and I'm thinking of trying it out myself. There are many d.i.y.'s available online. The basic gist of it is to apply a thick layer of your base paint and while it's wet, apply your second color on top. Finish with a topcoat. They say matte topcoat hides blemishes better.
Another interesting nail polish trend I came across was Katy Perry's new line in collaboration with OPI.
The Katy Perry line includes four to-die-for shades reminiscent of her music videos, teenage dream (pink glitter), not like the movies (silver), last friday night (blue), the one that got away (deep berry) which is probably my favorite of the 4. What's totally amazing though is the Black Shatter. It's a revolutionary topcoat that creates a crackle pattern when applied over dried nail lacquer to create an effect such as this:
