mario maurer, baifern penshoppe fancon2013 + fact sheet
Say hello to Mario Maurer's newest admirer!
I'm not really big on Asian Novelas but this boy really knows how to turn the charm on as I learned first hand at Penshoppe's 2013 Fan Conference at the SM Mall of Asia Atrium yesterday. Not far behind is the equally stunning Baifern Pimchanook who was just as effective at engaging the massive crowd despite her lack of English and Tagalog speaking skills.
Their combined ability to woo a crowd with just a few smiles further cement their right to be part of Penshoppe's exclusive roster of international endorsers.
I was personally surprised and a bit overwhelmed by the enormous turnout of Maurer x Baifern supporters at MOA. The place is huge but they managed to fill it up making it almost impossible to get from one end to the other.
Mario and Baifern have a certain magnetic presence that truly draws you in and makes you want to find out more which is probably why they enjoy so much success as a team on the big screen. Their appreciation for their fans from the Philippines is also very evident in the way they interact with them. Almost no one is ignored. Quite an impressive factor considering the number of people present at the Fan Con yesterday.
Penshoppe's brand director, Jeff Bascon also has a similar view on their tandem. He was quoted as saying: “We love their energy—they have a fresh and youthful vibe that represents what the brand is all about.” He adds, “Mario loves the Philippines, he’s been here before; and Baifern is looking forward to meeting her Pinoy fans for the first time. Everyone’s just excited and we’re happy that we’re able to give Penshoppe fans the opportunity to see and meet them.”
And happy they were. Some were even teary-eyed during the short game held before the Q& A portion wherein selected Mario x Baifern admirers were given the chance to get up close and personal with the two stars in a photoshoot plus win autographed shirts and Penshopppe goodies.
After the games came a short song number from Baifern with Maurer acting as an imrpomtu back-up dancer. Then it was time for the Q&A. Here are some of the more memorable questions and answers during that segment:
- When did you first fall in love? Mario - high school
- Will there be a sequel to Suddenly It's Magic? - we are currently discussing it, most probably, yes.
- If you are stuck on a desserted island, who would you bring with you? Mario - my friends Baifern - my fans

And now, quick bio's. First up, Mario Maurer's
Mario Maurer is a Thai-German model and actor, best known for his lead roles in 2007 film The Love of Siam and 2010 hit First Love (A Little Thing Called Love), where he starred opposite co-Penshoppe endorser, Baifern Pimchanok.
Born December 4, 1988, Maurer was first discovered for a modeling job at 16 years old. Since then, he has been doing numerous photo shoots, commercials, and music videos.
His big break as an actor was his debut in the gay-themed, romantic drama, The Love of Siam. Maurer was lauded for his remarkable portrayal of Tong, a conflicted teen who develops a romantic liking to his boyhood friend.
His performance won him a Best Actor award at the 2008 Cinemanila International Film Festival, an annually held international film festival in the Philippines.
He was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the Asian Film Awards.
Rising popularity in the Philippines
Maurer further gained popularity when he did the romantic comedy First Love (A Little Thing Called Love) with Baifern Pimchanok.
The movie became a hit in the Philippines after it was dubbed in Filipino and shown on local channel ABS-CBN.
Soon, Mario became highly sought after in the country. He was offered to make a movie with ABS-CBN’s film and TV company, Star Cinema.
Maurer starred opposite Filipina actress Erich Gonzales in the romantic Filipino-Thai film Suddenly It’s Magic.
Landing the endorsement with Penshoppe
Maurer’s growing career in the Philippines also gained him an endorsement contract with local brand Penshoppe.
Thousands of fans attended his official launch as the brand’s endorser at the press and fan conference held in the Philippine International Convention Center in 2011.
In the same year, Maurer walked the runways for Penshoppe at the Philippine Fashion Week held at the SMX Convention Center.
Baifern Pimchanok is a Thai actress and model, best known for her lead role as Nam in the movie First Love (A Little Thing Called Love), where she starred opposite fellow Penshoppe endorser, the popular Thai-German actor Mario Maurer.
As her film debut with Maurer in First Love (A Little Thing Called Love) became such a huge hit, other projects alongside the actor came in for Pimchanok.
She was also offered an endorsement contract with Philippine clothing brand Penshoppe with Maurer.
Pimchanok also had a guest role in the Filipino-Thai movie, Suddenly It’s Magic, where she played the role of Sririta Taylor, the ex-girlfriend and onscreen partner of Maurer’s character.
Acting and modeling duties aside, Pimchanok is also busy with school. She is a freshman at the Srinakharinwirot University, where she is currently studying acting.
There you go, hope you enjoyed this post.
